I strongly believe that one doesn’t need a belief system to have a religious experience. One festival walkabout, I encountered a shaman who invited me into his space. He performed rhythmic, Native American-style drumming and Tuvan throat singing within inches of my body. The combination of beautiful song and deeply resonating somatic vibrations put me in a trance-like state of bliss and tranquility. It was a life-changing experience that inspired me to create my own. Psycho-acoustic sound immersion is a modern form of shamanism which embraces these ancient rituals, yet requires no belief system. It’s an experience for everyone. It is art.
